Here I go again, on the hunt for a new career, new job, new anything to transition into my new life. It can be very scary to try something new at the same time it can be extremely rewarding. First you have to get in the right frame of mind for the hunt, then you have to decide what to wear for the hunt (very important) you know. Next step, collecting all the things you need to make sure you bag the “interview” after the hunter has finished with the session. It can be nerve racking being the hunted but I guess it is inevitable. What to do? “Say La Vie” as the saying goes. How is your job hunting going?

I cannot believe today. Great day. Getting ready 2 go swimming with my daughter. Excited.

Well, here I am again making a jab at the unemployment merry go round. This time is different. How so, you ask? First, this is a genuine network of business professionals, managers, human resource directors, business owners, the list continues. They are the ones who will actually make the decisions. Secondly, I was told to bring plenty of resumes and business cards. I anticipate a face to face, one on one, eye ball to eye ball and end it with a strong handshake. I don’t know folkes, I think that this might be the one to turn my job horizon completely around. Now what I want to know is, which one is the best look for me. Please let me know. I need help in the presentation department. I got to get the job :)
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life! ~ Confucious
The landscape of job searching has changed so much in the last two years until, it has my head spinning around. If you plan on going to a quote: ”job fair” unquote, then let me tell you to stay where you are. I went to a one of those things the last friday in April of this year and it was a disaster. The people were lined up around the building trying to get in to talk to someone, anyone who would listen. But the so call hiring managers, only gave you a sheet of paper and said “please go to our web site and put in your application”. So many people are sick of this merry go round and those are the ones who don’t have a clue of the new landscape. I tell you the name of the game is Networking and volunteering. If you don’t know how to network and have not made it your priiority to volunteer then you are out in the cold. Gone are the days of actually letting someone see your Resume and press the flesh with a strong hand shake. I guess you really can’t blame HR for their practices. It is the nature of the beast and the beast will eat you up and spit you out. I felt like cattle being led to the slaughter and I knew better. I tell you this job seakers, there’s a new sheriff in town and they ain’t taking prisioners.
I am at a youth retreat with my husband and the young people at my church and it is awesome. Went 2 a church that was founded in 1732 and still in use 2 day.
Losing a game is heartbreaking. Losing your sense of excellence, or worth is a tragedy. ~ Joe Paterno
